While I add basic skills to my character I know a couple of people who don't to 'avoid clutter', if it were an option to add rather than automatic or if it were possible to add them by dragging a 'group' from the library rather than individual skills that would get my vote.
It is indeed a matter of preference. I know a lot of players who just want the skills available from their careers on their sheet, or the skills they trained. Every thing else is clutter to them, and they know the mechanisms enough to know what CHAR to roll when a particular skill is needed that they dont have.
